PROFILE
Agyemang Danquah, currently the Deputy Director of Research, Innovation, and Development, at WACCI, started his academic career at the University of Ghana in January 2014, initially as a Lecturer in the Department of Crop Science and later earning promotion to Senior Lecturer in 2021. During his tenure, Agyemang has held various roles, including membership in the College of Basic and Applied Science (CBAS) Academic Board and involvement in committees for WACCI. He has also served as a Coordinator for Teaching Programmes and Examinations Officer at the Centre. Beyond academia, Agyemang is actively engaged on the boards of WEDDI Africa Tomato Processing Factory & Agro Farms and Kwajen International School. Agyemang’s research is centred on leveraging science and technology to enhance agricultural productivity. He utilizes both conventional and genomics-based approaches to enhance tomato varieties, making them resistant to biotic and abiotic stresses and suitable for year-round production, disease resistance, extended shelf-life, and processing qualities for the local industry.
